WS Transportation has a great opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our team in Immingham. You will be responsible for managing the finance function of WS Transport BV and its subsidiaries, ensuring profitability is maximised and financial planning and analytics are accurate and timely to support operational decision-making. Your role will include continuously reviewing and improving financial information quality and timeliness to enhance the value of the finance function. Additionally, you will manage the finance functions of the business, ensuring liquidity is maintained and controls are adequate.

It's crucial to highlight that you will frequently travel to Rotterdam to facilitate communication between the two offices.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure profitability by delivering all standard and ad hoc KPI reporting as required by the business.
  • Oversee sales invoicing, cash collection, and purchase ledger to ensure timely invoicing, cash collection, and supplier payments, with a focus on subcontractor PO sign-off.
  • Develop a balance sheet sign-off process for month-end, including P&L sign-off, board pack production, and stakeholder reporting such as quarterly bank reporting.
  • Manage the budgeting process in line with group requirements, ensuring adherence to fixed deadlines and operational buy-in.
  • Introduce a mid-year forecasting process using the same principles as the budgeting process.
  • Support organic growth, new business, and acquisition opportunities by assessing and advising on operational merits and drawbacks to provide balanced insights.
  • Participate in strategy and onboarding teams for new business or growth to cover all finance and operational areas.
  • Mentor the finance/admin team, collaborating with senior managers to maximize team potential while ensuring quality work and commitment to deadlines.
  • Monitor customer service and operations performance to minimize non-conformance and report on non-finance departments' performance.
  • Maintain liquidity by overseeing daily treasury requirements and ensuring accurate cash flow reporting and forecasting.
  • Liaise with external Dutch accounts regarding VAT, payroll, and statutory accounts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • In-depth understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting standards, regulatory requirements, VAT, payroll, and statutory account procedures.
  • Excellent financial reporting and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficient in financial software and ERP systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Proven track record in senior finance roles, managing budgeting and forecasting processes, and overseeing financial operations.
  • Experience in developing financial reporting processes.
  • Supporting business growth and acquisitions.
  • Liaising with external accountants and managing VAT, payroll, and statutory accounts.
