CASE STUDIES

We take pride in the fact that our association with Scania goes beyond mere business, as we mutually add value to each other.

CHALLENGES

Scania is a Swedish manufacturer of commercial vehicles, specialising in the production of trucks and buses. Scania is recognised for developing innovative and fuel-efficient vehicles that prioritise environmental responsibility in the global automotive industry.

Scania looked for a reliable haulage partner capable of providing end-to-end services, covering not just transportation but also efficient logistic services. Their goal is to improve overall performance and quality metrics by minimising damage and optimising time efficiency in their logistical operations.

As we steer our partnership smoothly, both Brexit and Covid have introduced fresh challenges. Post-Brexit regulations have caused an unexpected increase in vehicle volume within a condensed time frame, attributed to the specific scheduling of Brexit. The timeline associated with the departure from the European Union has led to an unforeseen surge in vehicle activity, presenting challenges and necessitating adjustments for various industries affected by the new regulatory landscape. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, ports have implemented limited collection times, worsened by a high number of drivers on sick leave. Customers are hesitant to interact with drivers, resulting in heightened efforts to disinfect both trucks and personnel. This situation has placed significant stress on all stakeholders involved in the logistics process.

SOLUTIONS

We have tailored transport services specifically for Scania like handling their customs clearance needs. Our experienced planning teams have carefully explored ways to trim their operational costs, aiming to improve the efficiency of our delivery services. Short to medium-term initiatives, like Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for projecting future costs was implemented. Our dedicated fleet, featuring lorries paired with a range of trailers designed for Scania projects (such as the Kässbohrer Transporter and Rolfo Semi Transporter), can handle extra-long chassis up to three chassis at once. Our SDC kicker trailers, at 15.5 metres and two metres longer than the standard, allow for the simultaneous transport of up to three chassis. The Rolfo Hercules, a wagon and drag, accommodates a variety of vehicle sizes. Some of our trailers are equipped with rear self-tracking axles, making them well-suited for going around confined spaces and city environments. We collect and deliver to and from all UK ports, ensuring comprehensive service coverage. With our 24/7, 365-day business model, Scania is in reliable hands.

RESULTS

We established an enduring partnership with Scania around the same time our business was founded in 2014, and over the past decade, our collaboration has strengthened. Our industry-leading services, such as booking in and customs clearance, ETA tracking, EDI analysis, and immediate access to sign CMR and KPI manifests, contribute to maintaining a lasting relationship with Scania. We consistently evaluate and report performance to ensure our service meets their expectations. In line with our commitment to sustainability, we operate the latest and most efficient fleets to optimise efficiency. Additionally, we are actively reducing our environmental impact by implementing electric vehicles from Scania to our fleet. We take pride in the fact that our association with Scania goes beyond mere business, as we mutually add value to each other.
